Hi there,

It's not possible to transfer those kinds of purchases between an existing and new account. I would suggest as a work around is to set a new account up for your self, and remove the card from the existing account. As you can purchase content from your account as a gift for your child instead. Here's a link to family settings so you can change the parental controls on the console. Will this still allow me to set screen time outs, to his account?

Can we also change the name of the old account, if i make a new one?

Yes to both of your follow up questions. By creating a new "parent" account for yourself, you can set your old account up as a "child" account under your "family" settings at account.microsoft.com/family and then set their screen time/content limits. The name of the old account can be changed, but there is a fee when it comes to gamertag changes, just so you are aware. The other thing to consider is the old account's connections. If the email for the old account is a Microsoft outlook email you use, your child will be inheriting your email account, as well. (Don't share your email address here.)

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have more questions!

DarkHawk.....

Hmmmmmmm

That is not good that i cannot divorce the email account from the Xbox account. The email address used is way too important to keep with the account. I would have hoped i could have transferred the email to my new account.

Buck stops here i think, as i cannot have that account messed up in any way.

Thought the geniuses at MS would have had a work around?

Thanks

Hello there,

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. In regards to wanting to transfer Fortnite content from one account to another, as an ambassador previously mentioned, there isn't a way to transfer content that way. We do not have the means to transfer content from account to account, however, if you contact Epic Games, they should be able to assist you with possibly disassociating the epic games account from your primary account and associating it to the new account you are creating for your son.

If you have any other questions please feel free to reply back letting us know. Thank you again for posting on Xbox Forums.

Sincerely,
Ruben
Happy Gaming!

If you want to transfer the Epic Games account to a new Gamertag, you can do that by going to the "Linked Accounts" page on Epic Games' website. This will keep all your Xbox content the same on your account, but the Epic Games account (used for Fortnite) will be associated with his gamertag.

Here's how:

Open https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/

Sign in with the Epic account your son has been using (You can use the Xbox Live sign-in for your gamertag)

Go to "Account" (Click your username in the top right)

Go to "Connected Accounts"

Disconnect the Gamertag

Connect your son's new Gamertag

Again, this will simply unlink the Epic Games account (and all its purchased content) from YOUR gamertag and link it to his.

Hope this helps!

Keep calm and game on!

Problem with "divorcing" the account would be that as with all things it would leave it wide open to what I'd call "abuse" - namely that people would sell the accounts/licenses on for vastly inflated sums.  While I agree it's probably the best for your situation, unfortunately it's something that while a number of cases would be genuine the larger number of them would be shall we say less than genuine!

You wont be able to xfer content but you should be able to share dlc and non consumables as long as you are signed into the proper account

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the info.

I may well seek Epic's take on all this. If we can move all skins, etc to his account, then job done. Epic sounds like they may have the answer I need.

That way I can keep all skins with my account, and he can have the same. So long as I can also set him screen times, this sounds a winner.

Any other suggestions Xboxers?
