How to Make an Observer Car in Minecraft
Minecraft is a rather unique game in terms of possibilities. With a bit of imagination, you can create just about anything, including vehicles. Although there are certain limitations to the use of cars, you can build them on any platform and in any edition of the game. If you're wondering how to do that, we're here to help.
In this guide, we'll explain how to create a car in Minecraft on a console, PC, or mobile device. Additionally, we'll answer some of the most popular questions related to the topic and recommend the best Minecraft vehicle mods.
How to Make a Car in Minecraft in Creative Mode?
While you can create a car in both the Creative and Survival Modes of the game, the required resources may be hard to find. For this reason, we recommend using the Creative Mode. Read this section to find instructions for your platform.
Console Editions
The instructions for creating a car in Minecraft on Xbox and PlayStation are almost identical, so we combined them in one guide. Follow the steps below:
- Launch Minecraft and select "Game Mode: Creative" when creating a world. This mode grants players access to unlimited resources.
- Press the "X" key on an Xbox controller or the square key on a PlayStation controller to open your inventory.
- Move Slime Blocks, Piston, Sticky Piston, and Redstone Block to your equip bar located underneath the inventory. The resources are unlimited in the Creative Mode.
- Find a flat, uncluttered area. It's optional, though your car will only move forward until it hits something.
- From Slime Blocks, create two parallel rows from three blocks each, with two more blocks connecting them in the center. Your construction must look like a wide letter "H."
- Repeat step 5. Place your constructions on top of the first "H."
- Remove the bottom rows of Slime Blocks. You should now have a car frame suspended in the air.
- Place a Slime Block on the ground from one end of your car in the center. Place a Piston on top of it and remove the Slime Block.
- Replace two middle Slime Blocks connecting parallel Slime Block rows with Sticky Pistons.
- Replace the Sticky Piston located closer to the front of your car with a regular Piston.
- Place a Redstone Block on top of a Slime Block located in the middle of the front row.
- Place more Redstone Blocks on top of a Slime Block located in the middle of the back row and on the Sticky Piston.
- Sit in your car, anywhere apart from the Redstone Block areas.
- Remove the Redstone Block on top of the Sticky Piston. Your car will start moving forward. To stop it, place a Redstone Block on top of the Sticky Piston again.

Can I Make a Car in Minecraft Survival Mode?
Yes, it's possible to make a car in Minecraft Survival Mode. The required resources are quite scarce, though, and it may be more difficult than doing it in the Creative Mode. The instructions for creating a car in Minecraft Survival Mode are exactly the same as in the Creative Mode. The only difference is that you have to search for materials.
Frequently Asked Questions
In this section, we'll answer more questions related to cars in Minecraft.
Why Can't I Turn My Car in Minecraft?
The instructions for creating a car in Minecraft listed in previous sections don't include a steering wheel. While there's a way to create a ship steering wheel, it's too bulky to be placed on a car. You can't make a car steering wheel in the regular Minecraft version, though numerous mods make this possible. Here are some of the most fun Minecraft vehicle mods that allow you to travel around:
· Ultimate Car Mod
· WMATM Vehicles
· Soggy Mustache's Transportation Mod
· Cars Mod by xujmod
· Fex's Vehicle and Transportation Mod
Can I Drive My Car in Minecraft?
The short answer is "yes," though your car can only move in one direction, and you have nearly no control over it. You can make your car move and stop, but that's about it. To make the car move, remove the Redstone Block located on top of the Sticky Piston. To stop the car, place the Redstone Block back. Because this process requires many Redstone Blocks, making a car in Creative Mode is easier than in the Survival Mode. You can't turn your car in any direction in the vanilla Minecraft.
Try Out Vehicle Mods
Hopefully, our guide has helped you build a car in Minecraft. Of course, it's merely a fun accessory in the regular game version rather than a useful mode of transportation. With mods, you can create more advanced cars, as well as trains, planes, tractors, and other vehicles. Try out one of the recommended add-ons to get the most out of Minecraft.
